Could Things Be the Way They Are Because You Are the Way You Are?

Every year, churches are filled with believers eagerly receiving prophetic words from their pastors—declarations of blessings, breakthroughs, and new seasons. But what happens when year after year, nothing seems to change?

Are you one of those who grow frustrated, questioning why the promises don’t seem to come to pass in your life? Is it the pastor’s fault? Or could it be something deeper?

The Wake-Up Call: God Feeds Every Bird But He Doesn’t Put The Food In Their Nest

Dr. Cindy Trimm once posed a powerful question that shook me to my core:

“Could things be the way they are because you are the way you are?”

Take a moment and really think about that.

  • Are we expecting change without changing our actions?
  • Are we frustrated with lack of results, yet unwilling to make adjustments?
  • Are we waiting for blessings to magically appear while failing to take steps of faith?

The truth is, God’s promises are real, but many times, we have a role to play in manifesting them.

Faith Without Works is Dead

Let’s say you start every year with a list of goals and resolutions—getting a degree, improving finances, growing spiritually, or starting a business. But by the end of the year, none of those things have happened.

God may have already aligned every resource and connection you needed, but the real question is:

Where were you?

  • The scholarship was available, but did you apply?
  • The class was open, but did you show up?
  • The business idea was in your heart, but did you act on it?
  • The opportunity was there, but did you step out in faith?

The truth is, your harvest might be wearing overalls—disguised as hard work, discipline, and commitment.

Opportunities Are Everywhere, But Do You See Them?

A woman from another country moved to the U.S. with little to no resources. Instead of complaining about lack, she searched for opportunities.

1. She applied for scholarships—not based on grades, but simply because no one else applied.
2. She received so much funding that she paid cash for a house—no mortgage, no rent, no debt.

What was the difference?

  • She saw opportunities where others saw obstacles.

While many complain about limitations, others take action. The same opportunities exist, but your mindset determines what you receive.

Your Pastor Is Not Lying—You Just Have to Move

The parable of the Prodigal Son’s brother is eye-opening. He was upset that his father celebrated his lost brother’s return, yet he never realized everything his father had was already his.

  • God has already given you access to blessings.
  • You don’t have to wait—you have to act.
  • You don’t have to beg—you have to walk it out.

The issue is not whether God is faithfulthe issue is whether you are willing to take action.

How to Stop Waiting & Start Moving

This year, don’t let another prophetic word go to waste. Instead, ask yourself:

  • What is one thing I can do TODAY to move forward?
  • Where can I find the resources I need to succeed?
  • Who can I learn from (mentors, books, YouTube, courses)?
  • What distractions can I eliminate to stay focused?

The difference between dreamers and achievers is action.

Final Word: It’s Time to Change the Narrative

1. Stop waiting for the perfect moment—move forward with what you have.
2. Stop believing the lie that you “don’t know how”—seek wisdom and learn.
3. Stop complaining about what you lack—start using what’s available.

This is your year. Not because a pastor said it—but because you’re willing to do the work.

Could things be the way they are because you are the way you are?

Change YOU, and everything else will follow.
